How to Make a Butter Lamb

Easter butter lambs are a Polish Catholic tradition. In America, that tradition continues at Buffalo's Broadway Market. But just how do you make a butter lamb, anyway? See below. (If you've never seen a butter lamb before, skip right to the third video.)

Buffalo Tours will give two "Heart of Polonia" tours this summer: July 12 and August 18. See you there!

I just came across your Butter Lamb post and can't tell you how helpful this has been. I realize that butter lambs are an Easter tradition in many cultures, however, in my background (Amish Mennonite roots) just a generation or two ago, the carved butter lamb appeared on the wedding table in front of the bride and groom! My daughter is getting married in just a few days and now I have the confidence to try to make one of these beauties! Not sure that she'll appreciate the tradition but I guess I'm doing it for me :). Thank you SO MUCH!!!! I will probably write a bit about this on my blog in the near future as I have a chance to reflect on the wedding preparations.
